A SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization) is a member-owned financial institution that provides affordable savings and credit services to its members. In Kenya, SACCOs play a critical role in advancing financial inclusion—especially for teachers, civil servants, small business owners, farmers, and transport workers.
Regulated by the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA), SACCOs operate on cooperative principles and are democratically governed. Members pool savings together to access low-interest loans and financial support.
